What we want to raise money to buy
In each of the seven Health Centres that Save The Children needs to build will be delivery rooms. All money from Blog it for Babies will be used to buy items from the list below. We thought it would be lovely to be able to let people know exactly what the money they have raised will buy.
Delivery Kit – £49 can buy a delivery kit – a complete set of equipment for delivering babies safely.
This kit contains: cutting needle, round needle @50p; rubber catheter @ £1; gally pot, tooth dissection forceps @ £2; kidney tray £3; scissors, mosquito artery forceps @ £4; needle bolder @ £5; speculum, forceps @ £6; sponge holding forceps @ £7; foetoscope @ £9
Baby resuscitation kit – £29 can buy a baby resuscitation kit to deliver vital oxygen to babies born with breathing difficulties
Large instrument tray – £15 can buy a large stainless steel instrument tray to keep medical instruments such as forceps and syringes, hygienic and germ free
Spotlight – £8 can buy a spotlight to light up a room and help our health workers do their vital jobs safely
Saline Stand – £16 can buy a saline stand to house the saltwater solution used to sterilise wounds and replace vital fluids after vomiting or diarrhoea
Delivery Table – £75 can buy a delivery bed so that every mother can be as comfortable as possible during labour
Screen – £62 can buy a hospital screen to give mothers and children the privacy they need to relax and feel comfortable whilst they’re at the clinic
Pack of 10 surgical gowns – £20
Skilled birth attendant – £150 could pay for a skilled birth attendant for a month, a vital part of the team to ensure babies are delivered safely
