Lancaster Meet Up – Friday 4th May

Hosted by Vicky – A Cupcake Mum

Lancaster, it’s up north. Well north England anyway, it’s almost forgotten about but it is smack bang in the middle of the country. It’s where I live, have lived for the last nine years and a place I hold dear to my heart.  Most people look puzzled when you say Lancaster, it’s the capital of the county LANCASHIRE – it is not Lancaster Gate in London, it is not Lancaster, Pennsylvania. It is a city, we have a cathedral, an amazing university – well two actually, we are on the edge of the Lake District and have excellent transport links – but somehow, we end up being a sleepy forgotten about place, but to me, it is the perfect place to hold the North’s #BlogitforBabies event on 4th May 2012.

Blogger, Mammasauruaus, is travelling the country to spread the word about the Blog it for Babies campaign which is part of the Build it for Babies campaign, founded by Save the Children.  Faced with the task of organising something for the #BlogitforBabies I got to work on doing what I do best, pulling together networked contacts from around the area and putting together a mash up event which I hope will be a great end to the week of events across the country.

I have pulled together an event for 4th May which will be held at Lancaster House Hotel, just north of Junction 33 of the M6.  Lancaster House Hotel has kindly provided a function room and court yard garden free of charge to us for the event. The room will be set up for us to use between 2pm and 7pm on Friday 4th May.  The event will host companies like Pampered Chef who will be in attendance during the day to do cookery demos, providing sample cooking and sharing tips with everyone who comes along.  There will also be pampering activities going on, make up and make over tips – just the treat for us busy Mum’s!

We have fantastic and fabulous raffle prizes from the following companies up for grabs!

English Provender – A huge basket of chutneys and cooking ingredients from one of the companies featured in the recent episode of The Apprentice where they had to make chutney

Noodoll – A wrapped gift from the Noodoll range of stationary holders and books

Soap Dodgers – Children’s Clothing range who have supplied a prize

Bag a Book – Covers for books to turn them into handy bags, have sent through four bags for us to give away

Find Me A Gift – are sending something through to us, it will be a surprise

Buy A Gift – are also planning on supporting the event by sending through a treat for a prize winner!

Arteria Lancaster – Gift Shop supplying art and home ware gifts are supplying a mystery prize

Lancaster House Hotel – Three Course Sunday Lunch for 2 people at the award winning restaurant

Safe Nails for Kids – Nail Polish for children, something special for the little princesses in our lives

And much more! This is just to start off with, there are more companies contacting me to express their support and provide donations too!

We also have Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean coming along to pose for photos for a small donation to charity.  Come along and pose for a photo and wow your friends and family!

Of course, no event would be complete without cakes, cookies, chocolate and all things baked and devilishly good.  We would greatly appreciate it if, like many coffee morning events, you can bring along cakes and treats for us to sell for donations to the Blog it for Babies fund.  Lancaster House Hotel do a fantastic range of tea and coffee which will be on sale at the bar – grab a drink and find a table, eat cake, get pampered watch cookery demos and meet fantastic likeminded people and share your story whilst raising money for an excellent cause.
